Tourism entrepreneur
Jyoti Adhikari
Team Leader at Holy Himalaya Group
A pioneering tourism entrepreneur for over 30 years, shaping sustainable tourism and redefining the Himalayan experience.

Meet Jyoti
Jyoti grew up between the Ganga Jamuna hills, and the city of Kathmandu. A disobedient child from an influential family, he essentially raised himself with the guidance of his grandfather - running through paddy fields and stealing from fruit trees. At the age of 8, he began washing dishes in Kathmandu, staying at one restaurant no longer than six months.

His Impact
Creating long-term change through education, sustainability, and community-driven initiatives.
Afterschool Program
Believing education to be the foundation of long-term change, Jyoti constantly creates opportunities to benefit young people. The Afterschool Program, run through the Holy Himalaya Trust, supports impoverished children with academics, an environment to study and a small snack after their school day ends.
With nine in operation across Nepal, this has proven to significantly decrease dropout rates, and encourage seeking higher education.
Quality Production
Beyond education, Jyoti is deeply committed to sustainable livelihoods and quality production. He started Montari in his village of Phulkharka, a scholarship residential hostel for high school students of agriculture, combining learning with hands-on practical skills.
His work also extends to ethical agriculture, including coffee plantations built on a direct-to-consumer model that ensures the farmers receive the full benefit of their labor.
